Introducing Resourced Action Labs: RCAL and NFAL
Initiatives under the Resourced Action Lab umbrella are self-designed programs that enable principles for responsible investment and IP licensing. Less time-bound than traditional programs, the platform design can scale based on interest and funding to increase sustainability and achieve larger goals.
At Resourced, we are on a mission to increase access to more nutritious foods and diverse, productive crops. Let’s transform the livelihoods of smallholder farmers and agricultural value-chain entrepreneurs. We do this by identifying, accelerating, and implementing systems-level innovations in food and agriculture.
Our approach is one grown from decades of expertise in food production, agriculture development, social impact innovation, and business management, paired with a strong belief in the power of interdisciplinary collaboration.
We focus our vision and mission for holistic food system transformation into self-designed, principle-based Resourced Action Lab initiatives. The principles are ecological and economic sustainability, better nutrition, responsible investment, and the preservation of biodiversity.
The first of our Resourced Action Labs are 1) Rich Crops and 2) Novel Fermentation. Both action labs build on a base of experience to accelerate the rate of innovation to fulfill the demands of emerging market systems. With well-coordinated system-wide efforts, transformative crop and food outcomes are possible. We will scale these initiatives based on the level of resource support from the philanthropic and social impact community.
Fostering innovation to deliver resilient, nutritious crops. RCAL expands on the success of Rich Oats for Africa, developing and deploying high-nutrient varieties of oats, barley, and wheat across Africa. We're enhancing food security and farmer livelihoods through advanced breeding, technical assistance, and market development.
Pioneering microbial technologies for sustainable food solutions. NFAL identifies and incubates cutting-edge fermentation technologies, targeting affordable and nutritious ingredients for sub-Saharan Africa. We're addressing environmental impact, nutritional insufficiency, and food accessibility through innovative bio-manufacturing.
